Subscription entitles you and your household access to Queen Street Gardens Central. It is deemed that you have read these rules and that you agree to observe them.
Families are welcome, and a fenced area with a sandpit is provided for young children. Only adults accompanying children are allowed in the play area. Dogs are not allowed in the play area, and it is important to keep the gate shut for this reason.
Please be aware that there is a pond in the Gardens, which can be hazardous for young children. Therefore, responsible adult supervision is required.
Children are free to explore the gardens but should refrain from entering the flower beds.
Small barbecues are permitted as long as they are placed on a hard surface and with consideration for other garden users. Barbecues should never be left unattended.
Waste bins are not provided within the Gardens, so key holders must take all rubbish with them for proper disposal. There is a bin available in the street beside the main gate in Heriot Row.
Large-scale ball games are not permitted. However, small groups and family games are allowed as long as they do not disrupt the enjoyment of other garden users or cause any damage.
Cycling is generally not permitted, except for small children who are learning to ride and can use designated pathways suitable for this purpose.
For parties or social gatherings involving more than six people, prior notification must be given to the Gardens Administration. They will coordinate with the Commissioners to avoid any clashes with other events. Parties must not take place during the hours of darkness, create excessive noise, or leave any litter behind.
DOG RULES
Registered dogs with responsible owners are welcome. It is essential to consider other users of the Gardens by paying attention to the whereabouts and activities of your dogs at all times. Commercial dog walking is not permitted.
While dog walking and play are encouraged, it is important to remember that the Gardens are a delicate environment and are not designed as a park for vigorous dog exercise.
Dogs are permitted to on the lawns and in the wooded areas, but owners are kindly requested to prevent their dog(s) from entering the flower beds.
We understand that it may be challenging to keep some dogs away from the pond, but please ensure that your dog does not go onto the island as this disrupts nesting birds.
Please diligently clean up after your dogs. There are several dog waste bins available in the gardens, equipped with complimentary poo bags.
No dogs are allowed in the children's play area.
If your dog behaves in a disruptive manner that may concern other garden users, it must be kept on a lead and, if necessary, be muzzled. This responsibility lies with the owner, but the Commissioners may also provide directions regarding this requirement. Dogs that persistently misbehave will be banned from the Gardens.
